Linux Basic forums have just been installed. This, I hope, will be the place to talk about the new breed of RAD Basics coming out for the Linux operating system. A place to get informed as well as help each other out with programming and installation issues. Be warned, I am as green as you are. I am here to learn as well.
I started programming in 1983 on an Apple II in public school and in 1984 my mother bought me an Atari 130XE computer. The 130XE came with built-in Atari BASIC and this is what I used to start my programming adventure. Later I moved to C and Pascal and used
Action! by OSS (a C and Pascal hybrid) that was a kick ass development system for the Atari 8-bit.
It took awhile, but I eventually moved to the IBM PC XT and started programming using Power C. It was a quick command line compiler for MS-DOS. When I bought Windows 3.1, I bought a copy of Visual Basic 1 and my adventure into RAD development started. Soon after the limitations of Visual Basic set in and I moved to Delphi when version 3 came out. I have since stuck with Delphi as my main programming environment in Windows.
I am new to Linux application development and what better environments to learn to program with than the BASIC RAD environments that are coming out:
Gambas,
HBasic, and soon
KBasic.
I hope you enjoy these boards.
